Hopefully you got your Doberman puppy from a reputable breeder that already had the ears cropped and healed, and then taught you how to post ears before you took him/her home. If not, you will need an experienced Veterinarian who is skilled in not only the science, but the art, of ear cropping. Just because a vet knows HOW to crop doesn't mean they are SKILLED at it, nor that they provide adequate follow-up instruction or have staff that understand the nuances of posting. Don't make a costly mistake! By accessing the "Cropping-Vets" Excel sheet on this Facebook Group's Files page, you will have a far better opportunity for your puppy's ears to turn out beautiful!
Are you a Veterinarian or 3rd-4th year Veterinary Student that wants to learn the art of ear cropping under the mentorship of an approved, skilled Veterinarian? The Doberman Pinscher Club of America offers a $1000 grant for approved applicants to travel and train with approved mentors. Safe, state of the art anesthesia and analgesia will be emphasized. Recipients will also be exposed to needs for good patient after care, healing and posting for final aesthetic outcome.
In less than 3 years, the DPCA Crop Grant Program has successfully funded over 30 Veterinarians who are now offering their ear cropping services at their practices.
